A sombre mood was witnessed at Mwala area in Machakos County when the last victim of the Kitengela 4 murders was laid to rest.

During the burial ceremony which took place on Sunday, August 22, the family and friends of Nicholas Kiengo Musa eulogised the deceased as tender soul who could not hurt a fly.

“Personally, I have forgiven them. And if there is anyone who will guide me in solving this case, I will take the guidance of government authorities, na sitaki mambo mingi,” Patrick Musa, the father of the deceased said.

On Sunday, August 8, Nicholas Musa 29, Fredrick Mureithi Wanjiru 30, Victor Mwangi Wanjiru and Mike Onduso George were lynched by a mob in Kitengela on suspicion of being cattle rustlers.

Nicholas Musa’s burial brings to rest the nine day agony of the families that lost their sons in the August 8 mob lynching even as police stem investigations into the killings.

On Monday, August 16, police in Kitengela arrested 40-year-old Benson Melonyie Ole Mungai out of a hideout in Kitengela.

According to a report by the DCI, forensic investigations placed the suspect at the scene of crime where it was said that he was behind the killings.

“Ole Mungai’s arrest comes a few days after DCI took over investigations into the murders and moved with speed to pursue the killers. Ole Mungai was positively linked into the brutal killings after forensic investigations placed him at the scene of the crime, where it was established that he led and coordinated the killing of the four,” the report by DCI read in part.

On Friday 20, Victor Mwangi Wanjiru and his brother Fredrick Mureithi Wanjiru were laid to rest in their rural home in Muyu area, Nyandarua County. On Thursday, Mike Onduso George was buried in Nyamira County.
