Sifuna warns Ojienda to stop behaving like Salasya

Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna has challenged his Kisumu counterpart, Tom Ojienda, to stop behaving like Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya.
Sifuna and Ojienda clashed over the contents of the document signed between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Sifuna asked Ojienda to read the document instead of trying to philosophize it and spinning it to fit his own narrative.
“I can forgive Salasya for not reading this document (ODM-UDA working agreement document). But I cannot forgive Ojienda because, Prof, you are a lawyer.
“There has been a lot of nonsense being said about the contents of this document. Luckily for us (Ojienda and Bomet Senator Paul Sigei), we are lawyers, and they know about the parole evidence rule. Once the content of an agreement has been reduced into a document, you do not introduce oral evidence to explain its contents because the document will speak for itself,” Sifuna said during a morning talk show on a local TV station on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Annoyed president
Sifuna added that one of the main reasons President William Ruto gets annoyed with him is because he keeps reminding the Head of State of what is contained in the working agreement.
“The people who are supporters of this animal called broad-based are running away from the contents of this document. That is why the president gets annoyed with me, because I remind him what the document said.
“That broad-based animal started existing before this document was signed. Ojienda, you are a professor of law; do not behave like Salasya. Read the document so that you understand it and explain to your people what it says,” Sifuna added.
