Section of Kiambu County to be affected by power blackout on Thursday

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced that a section of Kiambu County will experience a planned power blackout on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the company said the outage will affect parts of Kawaida and Kimorori areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

According to the official notice, the specific areas to be affected include Gatatha Farmers Kimorori, Kawaida, Black Petals, Koba Waters, Taka Taka Solutions, Nazareth Hospital, Sycamore, Gatoni Village, and nearby customers.

Kenya Power explained that the interruption is part of scheduled maintenance aimed at improving power reliability, enhancing safety, and upgrading infrastructure in the affected region.

Customers in these areas are advised to make necessary arrangements and treat all power lines as live throughout the maintenance period.

The company added that the electricity supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed.

Steady service

In its broader statement, Kenya Power reaffirmed its commitment to expanding electricity access and improving reliability across the country.

Through initiatives such as the Last Mile Connectivity Project, Hybridisation, and Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP), the company continues to light up homes, schools, and health facilities with clean, dependable energy.

The firm emphasised that quality, safety, and reliability guide all its operations.

Its Meter Central Laboratory (MCL), accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, guarantees billing integrity and accurate measurement standards.

Jeremiah Kiplagat, Director at the Institute of Energy Studies & Research, remarked, “When you trust your meter, you trust your bill.

“When you trust your bill, you pay. And when you pay, we keep the lights on.”

Residents are urged to remain patient as the utility company carries out the maintenance work to ensure improved and reliable service.
