Ruto meets Kitui leaders ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations

President William Ruto has met a group of opinion-shapers from Kitui County at State House, Nairobi, ahead of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Taking to his X handle on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the Head of State said that the journey to making Kenya a prosperous nation requires the collective support of all Kenyans, regardless of political affiliation.

Ruto holds State House meeting
“We are marshalling the support of all Kenyans in our agenda to transform our country from Third World status to a prosperous nation that serves all citizens.
“Our programmes and policies are changing the lives and landscape of Kenya in many ways,” President Ruto said.
The President noted that his administration continues to engage grassroots leaders, women’s groups, and business communities across the country to ensure equitable development and inclusion.
Ruto met the delegation from Kitui County led by former Senator David Musila, which included political, business, women, and community leaders.

Discussions centred on ongoing development projects in the region, including road construction, fresh produce markets, students’ hostels, affordable housing, and sustainable agriculture.
Kitui to host Mashujaa Day fete
“Met a delegation of political, business, women and grassroots leaders from Kitui County at State House, Nairobi, led by former Senator David Musila.
“We discussed the development programmes underway in the county, including construction of roads, fresh produce markets, students’ hostels and affordable housing and sustainable agriculture,” he added.
The meeting comes just days before the national Mashujaa Day celebrations, which will be held in Kitui County for the first time.

The celebrations are expected to highlight the region’s progress under the Kenya Kwanza administration and the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.
State officials say preparations are in top gear to ensure the October 20 event runs smoothly.
Roads within Kitui town are being upgraded, while security agencies have been mobilised to manage the large number of guests expected to attend.
Mashujaa Day is celebrated annually to honour heroes and heroines who played a vital role in Kenya’s struggle for independence and national development.
This year’s theme is expected to focus on innovation, productivity, and national unity under President Ruto’s transformative agenda.
