President William Ruto has revealed his intentions to go back to evangelism after he is done serving as Kenya’s Head of State.
Ruto on evangelism
Speaking on Sunday, September 1, 2024, during a church service at ACK Bungoma, Ruto stated that evangelism is his true calling.
President Ruto further explained that this is the reason he likes addressing Kenyans from the roof top of vehicles.
According to Ruto, he is an evangelist and sometimes he finds himself behaving like one, even when he is doing other things.
“I am an evangelist, and many people sometimes wonder why I stand in raised places, sometimes on top of the car. It is because when your orientation is an evangelist, you always behave like an evangelist even when you are doing other things. And by the way, I have given a commitment that when I finish my tour of duty as president, I will go back to be an evangelist because that is my original calling,” Ruto stated.
Ruto on God’s deeds
The Head of State went ahead to urge the church to continue praying for the country, stating that he was thankful for what God has done for Kenya so far.
Ruto listed three things, which he says God has done for the country.
He says God has provided Kenya with good weather for the last two years, citing what he termed as good harvest from farmers in the last planting seasons.
Ruto also stated that God has aided the country to start conversing in one language about issues to do with development, other than the previous talks that revolved around ethnicity.
The president also attributed the success in his just concluded development tour of Nyanza, to God.
“I have just come from a trip in Nyanza and it is amazing what God can do. It is almost a miracle that the people who were on the extreme sides a few months ago, today we are speaking as if we are very long time brothers and sisters and friends. And that is the beauty of our country, that when circumstances demand, we close ranks as a people, we forge alliances as a people, we build bridges as Kenyans and we work together for the greater good of our nation,” Ruto stated.
Ruto’s Nyanza tour
Ruto on Saturday, August 31, 2024, concluded his tour of Nyanza region, where he continued to popularise his broad-based government while praising Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for agreeing to support his administration amidst protests and opposition from a section of Kenyans.
Speaking in Kondele, Kisumu County on Saturday, August 31, 2024, Ruto expressed his admiration for Raila’s patriotism where he shelved his political ambitions to support his administration despite mounting pressure from the Gen-Z-led protests.
Extending an olive branch to Kondele residents who previously staged demos over the Finance Act 2023, Ruto pointed out that there is no fault in Raila supporting his administration.
