The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in some parts of the country from July 16-22, 2024.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 15, 2024, the weather department said Central Highlands, Western Kenya, and Central Rift Valley, NW Kenya will receive rainfall as most parts of the country will experience dry conditions.
The weatherman also announced intermittent cool and cloudy conditions in Central Highlands, Western Kenya, SE lowlands and Rift Valley.
“Weather Outlook (16-22 July 2024):  Intermittent cold & cloudy in Central Highlands, Western Kenya, SE lowlands, & Rift Valley.  Rain in parts of Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Central Rift Valley, & NW Kenya. Mostly dry elsewhere,” the weatherman announced.

The forecast also indicates temperature extremes in certain regions. Low night temperatures, dropping below 10°C, are expected in the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, and SE lowlands. Conversely, high daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are anticipated in the Coast, NE, and NW Kenya.

Cold season, light rainfall

Last week, intermittent cool and cloudy conditions were experienced in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Rift Valley. Rainfall was also observed in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya.

Areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi Counties, experienced cloudy and sunny intervals throughout the day on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, some areas received light showers, but the weather remained generally cloudy.
