A police officer attached to the Ugandan Embassy in Nairobi is under investigation after five kilograms of bhang estimated at Ksh150,000 was found hidden in his car.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the police constable from the Diplomatic Police Unit was in the company of his five-year-old son when his fellow officers intercepted him around Merti junction in Isiolo on Thursday night.
Police say the bhang hidden in the officer’s Toyata Vitz was sniffed out by dogs from the police canine unit.
Isiolo County Police Commander Joseph Kigen said the suspect is detained at Isiolo Police Station and will be arraigned on Monday.
“He will be arraigned on Monday and charged with drug trafficking,” Kigen said.
The police report further states that the officer was in possession of a Ceska pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.
Kigen, who is the Isiolo County Police Commander further stated that his unit is alert and keen on drug traffickers using the Isiolo – Nairobi Highway to traffic drugs.
“We have intensified surveillance across the county and along the route and traffickers should be warned that the government is way ahead of them,” Kigen said,
