Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has held consultative talks with political leaders from Narok County, continuing his series of high-profile political engagements across the country ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

During his visit to Narok on Friday, May 9, 2025, Matiang’i was hosted by prominent Maa politician Richard Ole Kenta.

He was accompanied by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, and former senator Professor Sam Ongeri.

Onyonka stated that this engagement was part of numerous community-based consultations planned as Matiang’i seeks to gather public input and solidify support nationwide.

“We had fruitful consultations with our brothers from the Maa nation in Narok County,” he said, as quoted by a local publication.

Consultative tour

The Narok visit follows a warm homecoming reception in Kisii on May 2, 2025, where thousands lined the streets of Kisii town, causing the Central Business District to come to a standstill as they cheered with song and dance.

Flanked by local leaders including UDA-nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba, Kisii Senator Onyonka, Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Ombane Gisairo, and former Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i, Matiang’i addressed enthusiastic crowds, urging Kenyans to remain united and resilient.

“I want to ask you, my fellow citizens, let us not lose hope. Let us not give up on our country. We must hold on to faith. Kenya is a country built on resilience,” Matiang’i said during his address.

He acknowledged the economic and social frustrations facing the nation but urged patience, emphasising that unity and democratic participation would be key to steering Kenya toward a better future.

“All these problems we are facing today will come to an end. We must hold on together as one. And when that time comes, we shall cross that bridge together. God will help us fix this situation,” he added to resounding applause.

The former CS also reminded citizens of their civic duty, emphasising voter registration and turnout as critical to bringing about meaningful change.

“Let us move forward hand in hand and, most importantly, let us ensure we register to vote and actually cast our votes,” he urged.
