Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge has dropped a soft hammer on President William Ruto.

Through her X account on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Njoroge responded to a post by Murang’a Women Representative Betty Maina alias Betty Ee Sawa about the sickly wife of popular Kikuyu Benga musician Kamande Wa Kioi.

In her sarcasm, Njoroge wondered how the President was paying medical bills better than the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Ruto’s generous gesture

According to Betty Maina, Mama Kioi, the wife of Kamande Wa Kioi, was unwell but has recovered at Nairobi West, a private hospital.

“SHA and the family were able to pay over Ksh1.5M, leaving a balance of Ksh2M. Special thanks to His Excellency, the President, William Ruto.

“I reached out to him yesterday on behalf of the family, and today he gave me Ksh 2 million, which I have given to the family. Be blessed, H.E. Good health be your portion, Mama Kioi,” Betty Maina said.

Pauline Njoroge then reacted, saying, “President Ruto is covering medical expenses way better than SHA. Where can we register for his scheme?”

Her statement quickly went viral, with many Kenyans joining the conversation to praise or question the President’s personal intervention in health cases.

Ruto’s health plan for Kenyans

Pauline’s message comes weeks after President William Ruto announced that his administration would cover the cost of Social Health Authority (SHA) insurance for 2.2 million Kenyans to ensure access to healthcare countrywide.

Speaking during the launch of the SHA Sponsorship Programme at State House, Nairobi, the President explained that the health insurance scheme would allow beneficiaries to access services across hospitals free of charge.

“We are paying for 558,000 households, translating to 2.2 million Kenyans.

“We have over 6,000 hospitals where Kenyans can access medical services, and this is anchored in law,” the President said.

He also assured that medical equipment worth Ksh 220 billion would be supplied to all counties and that the process of digitising Level 2 and 3 hospitals would be completed by November.

Launched in October 2024 to replace the National Health Insurance Fund, the SHA is one of President Ruto’s main legacy projects.
