Parts of Nairobi among areas to experience power outage on Sunday

Kenya Power has notified its customers of planned maintenance scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025.

In a notice on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the utility firm listed parts of Nairobi among areas set to experience the outage for only a specified hours.

The electricity transmitting company explained that the planned system maintenance is aimed at improving reliability and alleviating any dangers within the lines.

However, Kenya Power apologised to its customers for the expected disruption expected to be caused by the system maintenance exercise.

Nairobi

In Nairobi, the maintenance exercise will affect residents living in the Donholm and Muthurwa area from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Specific areas listed by the utility firm included City Stadium, Pemba Street, Factory Street, Serengeti House, Landi Mawe, Enterprise Road, NCPB, Ministry of Mining, Industrial Area Police, Kibitz, Prisons, Kenya Railways, Numerical Machines, and Workshop Road.

Others are Chrisco Church Carbacide Gases, Commercial Street, KEMSA, Safety Hose, Nita, Mecole, Dunga Road, Dunga Close, Bunyala Road, Vee Rubber, CFF Church, Baricho Road, Sotik Road, Bungoma Road, Carrefour, Shamas, Vinodip Towers, Witu Road, DHL, Securicor Kenya, Caterpillar and adjacent customers.

Makueni

Besides Nairobi, some parts of Makueni County will also be affected by the planned maintenance from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m.

Makindu Market, Kiundwani Market, Mbuinzau, Kibwezi, Kinyambu, Machinary, Mtito Andei, Kisayani, Ikutha, Mutomo and adjacent customers will be affected.

“Kasuvi Market, Mbia, Itulu, Yimwaa, Kavete, Mbuvo, Kathonzweni, Kavumbu, Kalawa, Katangini & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power further listed.

Mombasa

In Mombasa, areas around Changamwe will be without power for close to eight hours. Mostly, companies around that area will be affected.

Kiambu

In Kiambu, Juja Industrial, Mungetho, Mirimaini, Kiaora Farm, Nchengo Farm, Mtaro Farm, Kariki Farm, Bob Harries, Kijito, Mashule Est, Karakuta Estate, Gachibi Farm, Kwa Ndumbe, Kirai, and Mutuma Market will be affected.

Other areas are Gitatuiiya, Mangu, St. Francis Girls, Kairi, Kagabwa, Gatukuyu Mkt, Kawira, Diana Farm, Kihenia Farm, Kigio Market, Oriti Farm, Maryhill Girls, Eagadds Farm Brister Girls, Gachororo, Juja Preparatory, Newwood Estate, Silvercoin, St. Peter School, Kenyatta Road, Mukinyi Road and adjacent customers.
