Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has flagged a fake X account that has been impersonating him.
Ogamba, in a statement shared via his official X account on January 13, 2025, warned Kenyans to be aware of the account that has been sharing misleading information purporting to be the CS.
“Beware of a fake X account purporting to be the Cabinet Secretary of Education,” Ogamba stated.
He further attached a screenshot of the account with a fake letter that had been shared claiming that the education CS had resigned from his role in President William Ruto’s administration.

Ogamba on resignation letter
A letter shared via the fake account cited the recent rise in the cases of abductions and extrajudicial killings as the reason for resignation. CS Ogamba has, however, marked the letter as fake.
At the time the letter was being shared, CS Ogamba was in Bomet County, where he commissioned newly renovated classrooms and newly constructed Grade 9 classrooms in Chepkochun Comprehensive School, Cherwot Comprehensive School, and Besiobei Comprehensive School in Konoin Sub-County.
“I have this afternoon commissioned newly renovated classrooms and newly constructed Grade 9 classrooms in Chepkochun Comprehensive School, Cherwot Comprehensive School, and Besiobei Comprehensive School in Konoin Sub-County, Bomet County. Present included Hon. Brighton Yegon, Member of Parliament for Konoin Constituency, and Hon. Charity Kathambi Chepkwony, Member of Parliament for Njoro Constituency,” Ogamba revealed in a statement shared via his official X account.
Mbae resigns
The flagged account shared the fake letter soon after the head of Government Delivery Services (GDS), Peter Mbae, resigned, citing a challenging work environment and long-standing unresolved issues.
In a formal request to relinquish his duties via his X account on Monday, January 13, 2025, Mbae outlined his journey in public service and the circumstances that led to his resignation.
Mbae revealed that the Public Service Commission first appointed him in January 2023 as the Secretary of Investments Promotion in the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry (MITI). During this time, he also served as the Head of the Ministerial Delivery Unit.
In October 2023, Mbae transitioned to the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, where he was appointed Head of Ministerial Programmes.
His responsibilities increased in June 2024 when he became the Head of Government Delivery Services, a position tasked with overseeing the implementation of government programmes and projects across various ministries, departments, and agencies.
