The issuance of certificates comes a day after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party vowed to ensure it clinched victory in all the positions it had fielded candidates for in the upcoming by-elections.
Speaking during the party’s 20th anniversary, ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga stated that the party is focused on ensuring that its candidates win the MCA elections in Turkana, Samburu, Nyamira, Narok, and Garissa.
“I would like to call upon us to work together to bring more seats to the table,” Wanga said.

“In 2022, we had 473 MCAs, and for us to keep these numbers, we need to keep a strong party, and that is why we are talking about how to move to 600 MCAs in 2027. That is the strength we need to push and it starts with the by-elections.”
Wanga, also the Governor for Homa Bay, noted that the party prides itself in etching its name in Kenyan politics, having dominated political representation in some of the regions in the nation.
“We celebrate 20 years of resilience, growth and political stability that has nurtured young politicians into political heavyweights and has also built a strong political institution that has continued to grow by the day,” she added.
