Noxious Gaming (NXG) from South Africa clinched the inaugural Carry1st Africa Cup title, defeating Kenya’s Delta eSports 3-1 in the final match held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Nairobi.
The thrilling showdown was not without drama. NXG was stripped of a hardpoint victory after being found guilty of using a banned K9 unit during the map.
However, their overall dominance throughout the tournament secured them the championship title.
NXG advanced to the finals after overcoming Nigeria’s Sierra 7 in the semifinals, while Delta eSports knocked out Morocco’s SUN eSports in the first semifinal match.
Despite being clear underdogs, Delta eSports stunned fans with their impressive run. Their journey included a hard-fought victory over Ghana’s Aura233 on Saturday, followed by a controversial map replay on Sunday that sealed their semifinal spot.
As the runners-up, Delta eSports takes home a cash prize of $3,000, while NXG walks away with the grand prize of $5,000. NXG’s Bean Pole also pocketed $1000 after emerging as the MVP.
In third-place playoffs, Morocco’s SUN eSports was declared number 3 with Nigeria’s Sierra 7 finishing fourth.
As a result, SUN eSports went home with $1,800.
