President Uhuru Kenyatta did not snub Deputy President William Ruto when the Head of State jetted back to the country from his two-day visit to Zambia on Saturday evening, an official in the DP’s office told K24 Digital on phone.

The deputy president’s representative, who spoke in confidence, refuted viral claims which made the rounds on social media on Saturday evening that President Kenyatta used a different route to avoid coming into contact with the DP at the JKIA.

The now-viral post, whose author remains unknown, read: “Funny occurrence here at JKIA.  Kamwama [President Kenyatta’s nickname] jets back [a] few minutes ago from Zambia, where he has been since Thursday.

“His presidential jet docks at the normal passenger terminal. From where I am locked on a traffic jam, I can see Kamwana embarking from the plane being welcomed by only military and police heads.

“[He] then checks outs through normal passenger terminal. On the other hand, DP [Ruto] was waiting to receive his boss from the VIP/Presidential lounge. Information reaches DP that his boss has landed through normal passenger terminal. DP feels disappointed. Departs JKIA presidential lounge in a huff, not amused, leaving behind his boss whom he had come to welcome back home,” read the allegations.

A high-ranking officer in the deputy president’s team, however, dismissed the claims, saying Ruto, who, had toured Nyandarua County on Saturday evening, hadn’t even concluded his visit, when the president jetted back.

“He, therefore, couldn’t make it to the JKIA in time to receive the president,” said the representative, adding: “What you are reading online is fake news”.

The DP had presided over a fundraising at an AIC Church in Nyandarua County.
