Murang’a MCA among 4 arraigned over Koimburi’s abduction

Four persons of interest in the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi have been arraigned in a Nairobi court.
Murang’a Member of County Assembly (MCA), Kanyenyaini Ward Grace Nduta, together with Juja Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Chairman Peter Mbari, David Macharia and Cyrus Kieru have been arraigned before Magistrate Carolyne Nyaguthii.
In an application lodged at the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, May 30, 2025, the Investigative Officer (IO) Nicholas Njoroge seeks to detain Mbari, Macharia, and Kieru for 15 days and MCA Nduta for 14 days to complete investigations.
Officer Njoroge urged the court to grant him the days to enable him to complete investigations in the alleged case of kidnapping in order to murder contrary to section 258 of the Penal Code.
Creating disturbance
Further, the IO seeks to investigate the four for creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace contrary to section 95(1)(b) of the Penal Code.
He also states that he intends to probe them on giving false information to a person employed in the public service contrary to section 129(a) of the Penal Code.
While seeking their detention, Officer Njoroge told the court that if the four are released on bail, they might interfere with the ongoing investigations.

In his argument, Njoroge stated that he needs to obtain medical reports and other crucial information for the investigation.
“Your honour, I need to obtain the medical reports and record a formal report and statement from the victim who is currently hospitalised at the Karen Hospital in serious condition,” Officer Njoroge told the court.
Tampered vehicle
Additionally, he said that he needs the four to remain in custody so as to assist him in tracing the remaining persons of interest in the matter.

Meanwhile, Officer Njoroge has revealed that the motor vehicle used in the alleged abduction by the two men is registered to one Cyrus Kieru Muhiu, and the registration number KDQ 803B appears to have had a visible manipulation on the letter Q from a casual glance.
“The investigations later revealed that the true identity of the said vehicle registration KDG 803B, which from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is registered to one Cyrus Kieru Muhiu,” part of the miscellaneous application read.
Magistrate Carolyne Nyaguthii is expected to rule on the DCI application at 2:30 pm.
