Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has firmly declared President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027 a foregone conclusion, telling Kenyans to brace for his second term as a matter of political certainty, not speculation.

Speaking on Saturday, June5,2025 during the burial ceremony of Mildred Ayiemba Osotsi Wanyama, mother to FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga and international footballer Victor Wanyama Mudavadi said Ruto’s second term is inevitable, and critics should prepare for it.

Addressing mourners in Uasin Gishu County, Mudavadi recounted his role in backing Ruto’s first presidential bid in 2022, reminding the audience of the now-famous “earthquake” declaration that marked his political realignment from the Azimio coalition to Kenya Kwanza.

Mimi nilisimama wakati Ruto alikuwa anatafuta kura. Nikaonyesha earthquake. Wakati watu walidhani hana nafasi, tukasimama naye na akashinda,” he told the gathering. “I gave you direction in 2022. Today I repeat it: Ruto will become President again through the ballot. It’s going to happen.”

Mudavadi dismissed growing political noise and opposition criticism as “empty rhetoric,” adding that Kenya Kwanza remains solid and focused on delivering long-term national transformation. “Hatukatai watu kuzungumza,” he said. “Unaweza zungumza, lakini wengine wakipewa nafasi wanatukana. Hiyo sio demokrasia ya kweli.”

He praised Ruto’s courage to make tough decisions amid public backlash, saying past leaders avoided key reforms and left the current administration to clean up the mess.

“Our President has been in Kanyaga Barabara, carrying a heavy burden of leadership,” Mudavadi said. “The road has come to an end. Ruto has no option but to make the serious decisions others were afraid to confront.”

According to the Prime Cabinet Secretary, these decisions include economic reforms, youth employment programs, healthcare funding, and infrastructure expansionall of which demand political courage over popularity.

He said Ruto’s government is laying a foundation for the next generation, even if it comes at a political cost in the short term. “It is easier to make a fortune, but harder to make a difference,” Mudavadi reflected.

For Mudavadi, it’s not a matter of if, but when. “Mark my words,” he told the mourners. “2027 belongs to President Ruto.”
