Mohamed Amin leads DCI team to comfort IG Kanja after losing his father

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin, on Monday, October 20, 2025, led a delegation of senior officers to visit Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja following the death of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja.
The visit was aimed at offering comfort and support to the Inspector General and his family during their time of mourning. According to the DCI’s statement on X, Mzee Kirocho Kanja passed away on October 14, 2025.
In the statement shared by the DCI, Amin expressed his condolences on behalf of the entire directorate, describing the loss as a moment of deep sadness for the National Police Service fraternity.

“This evening, the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohamed Amin, visited the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, MGH, CBS, OGW, to offer his condolences following the passing of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja, on October 14, 2025,” the DCI said.
DCI expresses solidarity with the IG’s family
The DCI noted that the Director, together with the entire investigative agency, stood in full solidarity with IG Kanja and his family as they mourned their patriarch.
“The Director, together with the entire DCI fraternity, extends heartfelt condolences and stands in solidarity with the Inspector General and his family during this difficult time,” the statement read. Amin’s visit was described as one of comfort and unity, reflecting the strong bond within the country’s security leadership. The DCI said they remain united with the IG and his family as they go through this period of grief.
“We are united in mourning their loss and offer our deepest sympathies as they navigate this challenging period,” the statement added. The visit by Amin also served as a show of respect and cooperation between the DCI and the National Police Service, coming at a time when both institutions continue to work closely on matters of national security.
Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja’s passing is a significant loss to the family and the police service community, which continues to offer messages of sympathy and support to the Inspector General. The DCI assured the IG of their continued prayers and companionship as the family prepares to lay their father to rest.
