The Ministry of Health has on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, disowned a press release that has been making rounds on social media, purporting that it had revised Covid-19 measures.

The Ministry, through its social media platforms, stated categorically that the document, that enumerated a raft of changes in Covid-19 restriction measures, was not sanctioned by them and should be treated as fake.

“It has come to our attention that there is a document circulating in the media purporting to come up with revised restriction measures on Covid-19. The document is not from the Ministry of Health and is therefore not authentic,” the ministry tweeted.

The aforesaid document had listed among other revisions; the uplifting of mask-wearing in public, end of temperature screening, full resumption of sports activities, end of contact tracing and quarantine, exemption of vaccinated inbound travellers from PCR testing and allowing in-person indoor gatherings at full capacity.

The Ministry has now rubbished the raft of purported revisions and assured Kenyans that in the event they revise the restriction measures, the government will issue an official update in its usual manner.

“If and when the Government revises the restrictions, we shall make it public in the usual manner,” the tweet read further.
