A man who allegedly kicked out his wife for him to sleep with his male friend whom he later killed in cold blood has been arrested.
Daniel Otieno, 32, is suspected to have ended the life of his friend Lawrence Okoth,27, three weeks ago before burying him in a shallow pit latrine.
The incident police say happened within the suspect’s homestead in Nyamaraga village in Suna West Sub-County, Migori County where he then planted a banana on the shallow pit latrine with the aim of concealing evidence.
According to the area’s Sub-County police Commander Elizabeth Wakuloba, the suspect and his wife were the last people to interact with the deceased.
On the fateful night, Otieno asked his wife to spend the night in a separate house with their children so that he could sleep with the deceased in the main house.
“However, when the wife woke up the following morning, she noticed her friend’s husband was missing and Otieno appeared distressed,” Wakuloba said.
His wife told police that the suspect has been keeping an eye on her moves since the incident occurred and she only managed to step out of the compound on Friday when Otieno had gone fishing.
It was then that she reported the matter to the police and area chief as well as the family of the deceased who then stormed the homestead and exhumed the body.
Upon learning of the incident, his neighbours burnt his house as he watched before frog-marching him to the police station.
The matter remains under investigation.
