Students reporting to Maranda High School with drug test certificates are reportedly being subjected to further drug tests to prove the authenticity of their certificates.

According to the school’s principal, Edwin Namachanja, the administration will only allow the reporting students in class once the government chemists, who we hired to re-do tests on them, confirm that the details on the drug test certificates they are presenting are factual.

Namachanja, while Speaking to K24 Digital, asserted that parents must ensure that their children are tested. He added that without proof of certificate, the students will not access the school compound.

K24 Digital established that some students were forced to book guest rooms yesterday after being sent back for failing to produce the drug test certificates.

“We had staggered the reporting of the students to allow the government chemists to conduct the exercise without any hitches,” said Namachanja.

He asked parents to ensure their children undergo tests from home to avoid being blocked from accessing the institution.

“We expect the parents to take their children for a drug test and give consent for further random testing in the school,” Namachanja said.

The principal said that they have adopted the strategy to know those under influence of drugs and put them on rehabilitation so as to tame the upsurge in school fires as was evident in the past year.
