Edwin Omuse, a prison warder who was on Wednesday, August 25 nabbed after he was accused of planning to kill his lover for allegedly conning him Sh900,000 has spoken out about the whole matter.

In an interview with a local station, Omuse denied that he was planning to end the life of his lover who is a student at Mount Kenya University (MKU) in Thika, Kiambu County.

The officer allegedly carried a G3 rifle from Kangeta Prison and headed to Thika town after informing his colleagues that he was on a mission to kill the student.

“I did not have any plans of killing the student and if there was such a plan, I could have done it longtime ago since I knew where she resides,” he said.

Omuse further said that the lover had not conned her any money and he had never taken a loan and handed the lover any cash.

The matter raised concerns after the officer was spotted withing Kangeta Trading Centre in Embu County being in possession of a riffle.

This prompted those that saw him make a call to his colleague who has been identified as Caroline Wamboi to report the matter.

Asked why he opted to leave the station carrying a rifle that was loaded with ammunition, the officer said that he was late in returning the firearm.

“I left the station earlier before my time and the shift was not over. That means I could not return the gun before time reason I left with it,” said Omuse.

The officer who according to a statement by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti was nabbed by detectives drawn from the special unit after he was termed as armed and dangerous.

The officers from the special unit went to the girl’s house in Kisii Estate within Thika, moved her to safety then waited for the warder to arrive.

He is currently being held at Thika Police Station and he hopes that everything will work out well and that he will be cleared of any wrong doing.
