List of 42 TV stations set to lose licences over regulatory breaches
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has given notice that it will revoke the licences of 42 television stations for failing to meet regulatory requirements.
In a gazette notice published on September 12, 2025, CA Director-General David Mugonyi said the action will take effect in seven days.
“Revocation of licences notice is given pursuant to the provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act (Cap. 411), that the Communications Authority of Kenya shall revoke the postal licences of the following service providers within seven (7) days from the date of this Gazette Notice,” the gazette read.
The broadcasters set to lose their licences include Apple Truth Television Network, Metropol TV, Corporate Media TV, DG TV, Doxa TV, Dunamis KTV, Masai TV, Ezra Christian TV, Fanaka TV, Faith Estate TV, Talent TV, Champion TV, ILM TV, NAI TV, The Mirror Television, Ziwa TV, Kingdom Ambassadors TV, Uboro TV, Kokwo Television, Bulsho TV, Manifestation TV, Mount Kenya TV and Pillar TV.

Others are Tourism and Wildlife TV (Safari Channel), Ongatet Television Network, Mbugi TV, Safina Television, Shakaal Television, Sugan TV, Tama TV, Sawa Television, The Word Music TV, Soko TV, Thjiwe TV, Tem TV, Ukweli TV Kenya, Value TV, Wananchi TV, 009 TV, Ability TV, Ace TV and Superflex Television.
The Authority said the move is in line with the law, and once implemented, the broadcasters will lose permission to operate. Any resources under their licences will also revert to the CA.
“As indicated above, revocation will take effect seven (7) days from the date of this Gazette Notice and any resources held under these licences shall revert to the Authority upon revocation,” the notice stated.

It further added that once the revocation is enforced, none of the affected stations will be allowed to continue offering services.

75 TV stations
This is not the first time the regulator has taken such action. In 2024, the Authority revoked 75 licences belonging to broadcasters who failed to comply with licence conditions. The revocations, which appeared in the Kenya Gazette between April and November 2024, affected TV stations, FM radio stations, a broadcast signal distributor and a subscription management service.
Out of the 75 revocations, 66 were due to non-compliance, while nine were requests from broadcasters seeking to terminate their services. Those who voluntarily exited included Econet Media (K) Ltd, Kiss TV, Kwese TV, Bamba TV, Switch TV, Mwinjoyo FM, KUSCCO FM, Tusmo FM and Radio Ashe.
Broadcasters cited for non-compliance included Mwariama TV, Miracles TV, Magodo TV, Mugumo TV, Murata TV, Pwani TV, Rescue TV, Sauti TV, RTN TV, Lamu Youth TV, Madgot TV, Misoft TV, Mitume TV, Mugwe TV, Elgon TV, Mwanyagetinge TV, NEP TV, Mt. Kenya TV, CAN Tv, Border TV, Fire TV, Biashara TV, Arimus TV, Health TV, Getu TV, Daesak TV, Ingo TV, Kilunda Television Network, Laikipia TV, Mwananchi TV, Mwamogusii TV, Biz TV, MMS TV and Kwese Free Sport.
Others were Kilimo TV, Kathus TV, Jubilee TV, Islamia TV, Christian Faith TV, Homeland Television Network, High Life TV, Havilah Television Network, Harvest Family TV, Global Vision TV, Go Preach Gospel TV, FON TV, Ifortunes TV, Focus TV, End Time TV, Elimu TV, Dominion Broadcasting Network TV, Design TV, Brandplus TV, Clergy TV, Daystar TV Kenya, Njata TV, Utugi TV, TV Cosmopolitan and TMN TV.
Radio Luhya FM, Nacex FM, Somal FM, Kihooto FM, Njata FM and Sky 106.1 FM also had their licences revoked.
