The Kenya Airways flight carrying the body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga from India to Nairobi has become the world’s most tracked plane, as millions followed his final journey home online.

The aircraft, KQ203, left Mumbai on Thursday morning, October 16, 2025, and is expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) around 9:30 a.m. The six-hour flight is bringing home the body of the man fondly known as Baba, marking an emotional moment for Kenya and the world.

As KQ203 made its return journey to Nairobi, thousands of Kenyans at home and abroad turned to apps like Flightradar24 and FlightAware to monitor its progress in real time. The flight, which took off from Mumbai slightly behind schedule, has been watched minute by minute as it crosses continents toward home.

On Wednesday evening, the plane that carried the Kenyan delegation to India to coordinate the repatriation of Odinga’s remains was already making global headlines. Flight KQA202 became the most-watched on flight-tracking platforms, with over 7,000 people following its every move on Flightradar24.

For many Kenyans, tracking the flight has become a powerful way to share in the nation’s grief and solidarity. “It’s like we’re all travelling with him,” one online user wrote as the plane crossed the Indian Ocean.

Anyone can follow the flight’s journey by typing KQ203 into Google or flight-tracking sites, which show its live location, speed, and estimated arrival time. The flight’s progress has drawn record attention online, turning what is usually a routine tracking experience into a national moment of mourning.

Once the plane lands at JKIA, Raila Odinga’s body will be taken to Lee Funeral Home. A national prayer service is planned before his burial in his hometown of Bondo on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
