Former Nairobi town clerk Philip Kisia has urged President William Ruto to resign from the presidency, stating that his anger towards Kenyans is a sign of frustration from non-performance.

Speaking during an interview with K24 TV on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Kisia said Ruto should stop complaining about his inability to solve problems in the country when he made a promise to voters to tackle them.

“Millennials and Gen Zs are the ones who voted for Ruto. He signed a social contract with them and promised them four million jobs. Where are those jobs?” Kisia posed.

Tender resignation

“He should now sit down with them because it is not we who told him to make promises. Now that he has failed to honour those promises, the honourable thing to do is to tender his resignation,” Kisia said.

“Why is he hanging on to the job? When you are unable to do the job, you pack and go. Why would you hang on to the job when it is so heavy, you are getting angry with everybody around you, and you are getting mad at anything?” he posed.

“Go home in peace and relax with your wife, children, and grandchildren. You cannot start blaming people that joblessness did not start with you when you are the one who made the promise.”

Unemployment crisis

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Ruto called on leaders to stop inciting youths against the government based on the issue of joblessness, noting that the problem had been present before he assumed power in 2022.

“People want to lie that youths have lacked jobs since I became president. Unemployment has been in the country before I became president. I want to ask, did all the youths of this country have jobs before I became president?” Ruto posed.

According to the Head of State, unemployment is a crisis because the country has never had a plan to address it since the previous administrations.

“The reason why unemployment is a bigger issue is that the country has never had a comprehensive plan to ensure that youths have jobs. It was never sorted out in the previous governments. I am sorting it now; I am working on it,” he stated.
