The utility company asked consumers to prepare for the blackout and use alternative power sources where possible. Kenya Power has previously stated that such planned outages are necessary for repairing existing infrastructure, connecting new customers, and reducing the risk of unplanned interruptions in power supply.

Routine maintenance

Kenya Power has been issuing notices across Nairobi and other regions to alert residents and businesses about upcoming outages. The company explained that these shutdowns are part of ongoing network upgrades designed to ensure consistent power delivery and minimise unexpected disruptions.

The utility reminded customers that keeping informed about scheduled maintenance can help reduce inconvenience. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to plan their activities accordingly and take necessary safety precautions during the outage period.

Earlier in the week, Kenya Power had also issued a notice for a planned power interruption in parts of Kiambu County on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Areas affected included Kawaida, Kimorori, Gatatha Farmers, Black Petals, Koba Waters, Taka Taka Solutions, Nazareth Hospital, Sycarmore, Gatoni Village, and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Kenya Power reiterated that planned shutdowns are essential for maintaining and improving the electricity network. The company urged customers to remain alert to updates on their official website and social media channels.

The utility company has said that while power interruptions may be inconvenient, they are crucial for sustaining a stable electricity supply for homes, businesses, and institutions in Nairobi and other regions across Kenya.
