Kenya Power lists parts of 9 counties to experience blackout on July 15
Several areas in parts of nine counties will experience power interruption for the better part of the day on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
In a notice issued by Kenya Power on Monday, July 14, 2025, the areas are within Nairobi, Kericho, Nandi, Siaya, Migori, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Kilifi counties.

In Nairobi, the blackout will majorly affect areas around Naivasha Road from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
According to Kenya Power, the areas set to be affected include Naivasha Road, Flats, St. John Catholic Church, Ngina Road, Precious Blood Riruta School, Kawangware Timber Yard, Kawangware KBS, Kawangware 46, Kawangware CDF, Kawangware DC and DO Offices, and Kawangware Law Courts.
Others are Kawangware Shell and Lukan Petrol Station, Ndurarua Primary School, Part of Kinyanjui Road, Kawangware Market, KWFT Kawangware, part of Kawangware Estate, Ndwaru Road, Part of Kikuyu Road, Kwa Nganga Flats, Sam West, Kikuyu Road Swamp, Nembu Primary and Secondary School, part of Waithaka Shopping Centre, Mukarara, Mithonge, Maono Estate, Kagondo, Kiuru, Muhuri Road and adjacent customers.
Kericho
In Kericho, the planned power interruption will affect customers in Kipkelion and Fort Ternan from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
“Kipkelion Town, Barsiele, Blue Hills, Tunnel, Fortternan, Murao, Toroton, Cherara, Kutung, Chepkechei Sec, Liloch, Kasheen, Kaptenet, Kipkeremwo, and adjacent customers,” the utility firm listed the areas that would be affected.
Nandi
Chebarbar and Chepterit are the main areas which will face the outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Nandi County.
In Siaya, the utility firm notified residents that the Apate and Sigundo areas will be hit by the planned maintenance of the transmission lines.
Apate Market, Hawinga Girls, Sidundo Market, Hawinga Market and adjacent customers will face the power interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Migori, the whole of Sori Town, Alendo village, Aoro Chuodho, God Oloo, Sidika Village, Sori Malimali, Sori Beaches, parts of Kiabuya, and adjacent customers will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Nyeri
In Nyeri, parts of Jua Kali and Ngoju will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The specific areas are Ihwa, Ngoru, Juakali, 24, Miagayu-Ini and Zaina, while in Murang’a, parts of Kenol Catholic, Kariguini Primary, Kibiko, Kwa Jeshi Booster and adjacent customers.
In the coastal region, several areas in Kilifi County will also be without power.
The utility firm has apologised for the interruption while explaining that it is part of their routine maintenance exercise to improve supply.
