Kenya Power announces ongoing Sunday outage affecting parts of 4 counties

Kenya Power has announced that several parts of the country are facing scheduled power interruptions on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The company said the outages are necessary to allow maintenance work and improve service reliability. In a statement released early Sunday, Kenya Power apologised for the short notice.

“Good morning. We sincerely apologise for the late communication regarding today’s power maintenance. We understand that timely communication is important and regret any inconvenience this may have caused,” the utility firm stated.

Nairobi County

In the Nairobi Region, two main areas have been affected — parts of Karen and parts of Enterprise Road. Power in Karen will go off from 9:00 am. to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Karen Police, Tree Lane, St. Elizabeth Secondary, part of Windridge, Talisman, Asmara, Westwood, Ngong Dairy, Mwitu Estate, Mwitu Drive, Mutero Ridge, Mutero Rise, Mutero PCEA, Kerarapon Road, Gamoro Carwash, Eagle Church, Kerarapon Shell, Total Petrol Station Kerarapon, KCB Leadership Centre, Karen Community Church, Ngong View Estate, and all adjacent customers.

In Enterprise Road and Road B, the interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The affected areas are Road B, Kuguru Loop, Zoa Taka, Bachu Industries, Falcon Road, KHE Ltd, Rubis, Whole of Falcon Road, Part of Road C, Naivas Warehouse, General Motors, Sameer Road, Safe Tec Solutions, Colour Print, and all adjacent customers.

In Makueni County, the areas from Emali to Nziu and Sultan will be affected between 9:00 am. and 5:00 pm. Power will be off in the following locations: Emali Town, Matiliku Market, Kalamba Fruit Factory, Kalamba Market, Nziu Market, Kilili Market, Masumba Market, Kikumini Market, Mulala Market, Mbenu Market, Kithumani Market, and Masokani Market, including all adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu County

In the North Rift Region, areas around Racecourse and Jumbo Hotel will be affected between 9:00 am. and 4:00 pm. The interruption will affect Racecourse, Jumbo Hotel, Upper Elgon View, and surrounding customers.

Kisumu County

In the Western Region, parts of Kisumu County will have scheduled maintenance outages. Katito Town and the surrounding areas will be affected from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm.

These include Nyakwere Centre, KEMFRI, Sangoro Police, Apondo Kasaye, Sondu Miriu, and adjacent customers. Additionally, Chiga Market and its surroundings will lose power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include Land Matope Village, Masawa Village, Kasese Market, Kasarani Market, and nearby customers.

In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Nyamira County will have no power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected locations include Masige Farm, Tinderet, Metamaywa, Keginga, Makone Farm, Rigoko, and adjacent customers.

Mt Kenya region

In the Mt Kenya Region, the Archer’s Post and Wamba areas will experience interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include Maili Nane, Kisimani, Soi, Maili Saba, Maili Tano, Rangelands, Royal Acacia, Baraka Farm, Maili Tatu, Meru Woods, Mega Quarry, Kambi Garba, Mabatini, El Boran, Archer’s Post, Sarova Shamba, Kalama, Lengusaka, Lerata, Wamba Town, Swari, Lolokwe, and surrounding areas.

Kiambu County

In the North Eastern Region, parts of Kiambu County, especially Ngethu and Ngorongo, will be affected between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The outage will affect Ngethu Lower Camp, Kariuki Muiruri, Ngorongo Dispensary, Ngorongo Market, Ndekei Secondary, Dry Village, Kariua, Kamwangi DC, Kamwangi Market, Kairi Market, Nguna Village, Nyamathumbi, Karuri, Igegania Hospital, Nyamagara, Mukuyuini, Kang’oo, Mukurwe, Gatei, Kanjuku, Watathii, Gathaiti, Mbici Village, Ruburi, Mbogoro, Karera Village, Kagumoini, Ritho Village, Icaciri Secondary, Karingaini Village, and adjacent customers.

Garissa County

In Garissa County, power will be interrupted in the entire Garissa Town from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Provincial Headquarters, the County Commissioner’s Office, the Governor and County Government Offices, Balambala, Modika, the Garissa Water Offices, Garissa University, Modika Barracks, the Garissa Solar Plant, Madogo, KBC, GOTV, Sankuri, and Garissa Level 5 Hospital, Cancer Centre, Garissa Town, and surrounding customers.
