Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 2 counties on Sunday, November 16
By Steve Ireri, November 15, 2025Kenya Power has announced planned electricity outages in parts of Nandi and Nyeri counties on Sunday, November 16, 2025, as the utility company carries out scheduled maintenance.
In a notice shared on its official social media pages on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Kenya Power revealed that the planned outages are part of routine maintenance work aimed at improving service delivery and preventing unexpected disruptions.

“Good Evening. The following areas will be on a planned power maintenance tomorrow (16.11.2025),” Kenya Power wrote.
In Nandi County, the blackout will affect residents in Ikuywa, including Koibem, Kamelon, George Khaniri, and neighbouring communities.
The outage is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m., lasting a total of nine hours.
“NORTH RIFT REGION PARTS OF NANDI COUNTY AREA: IKUYWA DATE: Sunday 16.11.2025 TIME: 9.00 Α.Μ. – 6.00 Ρ.Μ. Koibem, Kamelon, George Khaniri & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power wrote.
Kenya Power emphasised that the maintenance work is essential to ensure the continued safety of the electricity infrastructure and to reduce the risk of unplanned power failures in the area.
In Nyeri County, the affected area is Njoguini, with the power supply being interrupted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Specific locations include Njoguini Shopping Centre, Njoguini Secondary School, PCEA Njoguini, Thatha Village, Njoguini Villages 2 and 3, Kinaini Village, and adjacent households and businesses.

The company stated that the maintenance work is critical to supporting a consistent electricity supply to institutions, homes, and businesses in the Mt Kenya region.

Kenya Power urged customers in the affected regions to take necessary precautions ahead of the planned outage.
The company also directed customers to their website for full advance notice and updates regarding scheduled maintenance activities.
The utility company reminded the public that during the outage, emergency services remain operational and can be reached through Kenya Power’s customer care channels for reporting urgent electrical issues or emergencies.
