Jubilation and joy on Monday filled Makini School-Kibos as teachers, pupils and parents gathered to celebrate the performance of Momanyi Ashley Kerubo who emerged as the second-best pupil in the KCPE results after scoring 427 marks out of 500 marks.

Speaking to K24 Digital, the elated girl attributed her good performance to discipline, hard work and support she got from her teachers, parents and fellow candidates.

“I am so happy and give thanks to God for enabling me to be among the top candidates nationally,” she said.

She also congratulated herself for the individual efforts she put into her studies in the last 8 years while in primary school.

“I am so proud of myself and I would also want to congratulate the other candidates for the exemplary performance they were able to achieve since Prof Magoha said that we have performed better than the 2020 candidates,” she said.

Kerubo also attributed her success to her parents who he said were kind and resourceful to her throughout her primary school education.

Speaking about her dream school, the top girl said that she wished to join the famous Kenya High.

On his side, Kerubo’s father Geoffrey Bigogo attributed his daughter’s good results to her hard work and dedication to studies.

Bigogo said he was in a meeting when he started receiving several calls from his friends and family telling him about his daughter’s performance.

“I thought the results would be released on Tuesday when I started receiving several phone calls that my daughter has been announced the best girl in the country,” he said.

Margret Wanyonyo, the headteacher of Makini School-Kibos said Kerubo has always been toping in class throughout.
