The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League leader, Kasmuel McOure, has criticised the country’s current opposition leaders, saying they have failed to inspire or mobilise the youth due to a lack of intellectual depth and strategic thinking.

Speaking at a local TV station on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, McOure explained that politics, much like life, operates on principles of game theory. This framework views interactions between players as strategic moves, where each anticipates the other’s actions.

“We need to understand that there is something called game theory. In broad strokes, it assumes that life is a series of strategic interactions. and in the electoral sense, the voter, the media, the parties, and the contestants all anticipate each other’s moves,” he stated.

Elsewhere, IEBC has called on Uasin Gishu residents to register as turnout remains low.

He argued that Kenya’s opposition has failed to grasp or apply this concept effectively, making them predictable and uninspiring, particularly to the youth.

“The people who are calling themselves opposition right now are intellectually lazy to the point where young people are not inspired to get a wave that is going to drive them in a particular basket.”

ODM Youth League

His remarks come a few months after he urged the youth to join the ODM Youth League and take advantage of the opportunity to grow politically and ideologically within a party that has shaped the country’s democracy.

In a statement on August 7, 2025, while reflecting on his journey from childhood learning to mastering musical instruments and now navigating the political landscape under the mentorship of ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kasmuel emphasised the value of consistency and humility in the pursuit of excellence

“If you’re young and want to be great at something, show up every day. And don’t be afraid to look silly for trying. That’s where the growth is. Join the ODM youth league today, and let’s grow together,” he stated.

Furthermore, he encouraged them to embrace curiosity, persistence, and continuous learning as they step into national leadership.

“I’m grateful for the gift of curiosity; the freedom to not give two hoots about looking dumb when learning or building something new. I put in the hours. I do the research. I seek out lessons from the very best,” he said.

“From my parents helping me memorise as a kid, to learning speech from my primary school teachers, to musical instruments in high school, and now, understanding national politics under the mentorship of the institution that is Raila Odinga,” he added.

McOure joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party on November 10, 2024.
