Kalonzo to offer Babu Owino top leadership position if he joins Wiper
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hinted at major changes in his party structure and said he is ready to offer Embakasi East MP Babu Owino a top leadership role.
Kalonzo was responding after Babu Owino publicly endorsed him on Monday, September 29, 2025, to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

Kalonzo said his party is being amended to allow for a new structure that will include a party leader and four deputy party leaders. He explained that Babu Owino would be considered for one of the top positions as part of efforts to strengthen the movement ahead of the polls.
“Babu, you are technically in Azimio. Kama munaona huko mnachanganyikiwa, ingia patriotic front tumalize hii kazi. We are amending our party to make it like ODM. There will be a party leader and 4 deputy party leaders. I would wish to give Babu one party leadership. Hatuna ubaya,” Kalonzo said.
The offer comes after Babu Owino claimed that Raila Odinga’s body language shows he will not get the ODM Nairobi governor ticket in 2027.
Kalonzo responds to Babu’s endorsement
The statement came shortly after Babu Owino declared support for Kalonzo as the best candidate to face President Ruto in 2027.
The Embakasi East MP urged Kenyans, especially the youth, to register as voters. He argued that registering to vote was the only way to bring change at the ballot.
Babu likened the coming election to past political moments in Kenya and abroad where leaders were voted out. He said just as Kenyans voted out former President Moi in 2002 and Americans voted out Donald Trump in 2020, Kenyans must now prepare to vote out President Ruto.
He accused Ruto of dividing the nation instead of bringing people together. He claimed the president has been more focused on creating rifts rather than offering solutions.
Babu insisted that Kenyans must come out in large numbers, register as voters, and use the ballot to replace Ruto with Kalonzo Musyoka. In his words, the only way to achieve change is through strength in numbers.
The exchange between Kalonzo and Babu signals closer ties between the two leaders ahead of the 2027 election. Kalonzo’s willingness to offer Babu a leadership role highlights efforts to build a stronger political front against President Ruto.
