Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said that he is the best bet to beat President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking on Thursday, June 26, 2025, during an interview with a local TV station, Kalonzo argued that even children know that he is the best candidate to take on Ruto in the next general election.

According to him, it is clear that Ruto cannot defeat him if they face each other in a fairly contested race.

Loosely translated as: “This is absolutely clear, my friend. I don’t even want to waste time on it. There isn’t a single child who’s just beginning to understand things who doesn’t know that the person best suited to face William Ruto—if he hasn’t resigned by the next election—is Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. That’s a fact.”

Kalonzo rules out Raila

Kalonzo went ahead to note that he will, however, listen to his colleagues in the opposition, have talks, and do whatever they can to win the election.

He, however, ruled out the possibilities of working with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga again, arguing that the former prime minister should be allowed to retire respectfully.

Furthermore, Kalonzo said that it was his wish for the remaining period to collaborate with his opposition counterparts and return the nation to where its founders wished it to be.

Loosely translated as: “And that doesn’t mean I won’t listen to my colleagues. We will have discussions, we will do everything we can, and I respect Raila Odinga—may he retire with dignity. In the time that remains, my intention, together with my colleagues, is to work together to restore this nation to the path its founding fathers envisioned.”
