Kajiado North MP: Kisii people have given Baba feeling on the ground

Kajiado North Member of Parliament Onesmus Ngogoyo on Monday, March 10, 2025, hailed Kisii people after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga received an unexpected angry reaction from locals at Gusii Stadium.
Speaking during a morning show on K24 TV, Ngogoyo lauded the residents for keeping real with the former Prime Minister. He argued that the chanting was a display of frustration and dissatisfaction with the government of the day.
Kajiado North MP further told K24 TV that the ‘Ruto Must Go’ chants presented Raila an opportunity to re-evaluate his new-found bromance with President William Ruto.
Nonetheless, he emphasized that Raila brought on himself what he encountered in Kisii.

“First of all, we hail the Kisii people for being real. They have given Baba the feeling on the ground. Odinga has put himself in a mess he did not create,” Ngogoyo stated.
What transpired
Raila was accompanied by a host of local leaders to witness the unveiling of Shabana FC’s jersey. However, Raila, who had always considered Kisii among his strongholds, received a hostile reception from a sizeable crowd at the stadium.
Some were recorded chanting anti-Ruto songs while others were reprimanding Raila all the same. While addressing the crowd, another chunk of people walked out, refusing to listen to the former Prime Minister.
A few others who are Raila’s diehards remained behind and accorded him an audience.

What transpired shocked a section of the political class, as Raila rarely receives such a kind of reception.
Reacting to the incident, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa called for tolerance. He rebuked the booing and pleaded with residents to exercise restraint.
“Political violence is a deeply damaging force that undermines the principles of democracy and fosters division within our country. I strongly condemn what is happening in Kisii. It looks petty and primitive,” Barasa stated.
