By Duncan Wanga,

Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary-General Joshua Kutuny says the party is still strong in many parts of the country after winning several seats in the recent by-elections.

Speaking in Huruma Ward, Uasin Gishu County following the win of Jubilees candidate Lucy Ngendo Chomba who was declared winner after garnering 2,498 votes against the total registered votes of 31,244 votes, Kutuny said they have put measures to ensure the party remains strong.

The new party official said they will strengthen the party despite a faction of the Jubilee Party members showing allegiance to the new political outfit linked to Deputy President William Ruto, United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Chomba, who won the Huruma Ward seat, said the election was free and fair and thanked the locals for putting their trust on her.

She is the widow of the Peter Kiiru, Huruma Ward MCA who died earlier this year leading to the by-election.

The party also won the Hells Gate ward by-election in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

Virginia Wamaitha clinched the Hells Gate seat with 3,955 votes against second-placed candidate, Warothe Kuria of UDA, who got 2,742.
