Political leaders from Murang’a County are demanding that nominated MP Maina Kamanda relinquishes his seat for allegedly breaking Jubilee Party rules.

The MPs, Alice Wahome (Kandara), Mary Waithira (Maragua) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) claimed that Kamanda appears to have shifted his loyalty to Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga.

The trio said Kamanda’s move to publicly declare support for ODM’s candidate, Imran OKoth, in the Kibra Constituency by-election was a big political mistake.

“The Jubilee Party did him an honour by nominating him, but he feels his interests are elsewhere. He should simply shift,” Kandara MP said over the weekend.

Wahome accused Kamanda of stabbing Jubilee Party in the back by supporting ODM agenda.

“He is expected to support and drive the agenda of our party but not going behind our backs” she said.

The Kandara MP said Kamanda is to blame for the divisions that have rocked Jubilee Party, claiming the former Starehe MP is only seeking political relevance.

On her part Maragua MP Waithira said Kamanda is one of the fake political prophets who are spreading propaganda that the Jubilee party is split.

Waithira said Kamanda and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu have a history of playing dirty and chaotic politics as they were both in the opposition.

She claimed that the two are being used by Raila to weaken the support for Deputy President William Ruto in the Mt Kenya region.

“We know they are also going to Rift Valley with the same mission, but I think their move is ill-advised,” Waithira said.

Their sentiments were echoed by their Kiharu counterpart who said Raila is to blame for what is happening in the Jubilee Party.

“Before the handshake, we were all united, spoke in one voice but we are so much divided despite being members of one party,” said Ndindi.

He said President Uhuru Kenyatta had good intentions when he made a deal with Raila but the latter seemed to have a hidden agenda.
