Among those present were President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, a section of opposition leaders, foreign dignitaries, and citizens from all walks of life who travelled from across the country to pay their last respects.
The burial, which was broadcast live on national television, was filled with tributes celebrating Raila’s long struggle for democracy, justice, and equality in Kenya.
Many speakers praised him for his courage, leadership, and contribution to Kenya’s political freedom, describing him as a true statesman whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Who the late Raila was
Raila Odinga was known for his firm stance on democracy, human rights, and good governance.
He played a key role in Kenya’s fight for multiparty democracy in the 1990s and remained a strong advocate for constitutional reforms throughout his political career.
He served as Prime Minister between 2008 and 2013 under the coalition government formed after the 2007 post-election crisis.
Despite several unsuccessful presidential bids, Raila remained a unifying figure who championed national dialogue and inclusivity.
