A first-year law student at the University of Nairobi has a reason to celebrate after nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura came to her aid.
Caroline Wanjugu Mwangi,17, from Mahiga Girls in Nyeri scored a mean grade of A- (Minus) of 78 points in the 2020 KCSE but could not raise enough to pay for fees.
According to Mwaura, he learnt about Caroline’s situation through her mum who reached out to him for help.
“She was admitted to pursue a bachelors degree in Law (LLB) at the University of Nairobi but she couldn’t join due to lack of school fees,” the Senator said.
Mwaura also took his time to ensure that the girl is admitted to the institution which is located in Parklands to pursue her childhood dreams of becoming a judge and equally fight for the less fortunate in life.
“The young girl’s dream is to become a judge in future, in order to administer justice to the many people who are oppressed, since as she puts it; she knows only too well what it means to be discriminated,” he said.
The girl who is a lastborn has three other siblings, two of them also are living with albinism.
The senator said that through the Albinism Society, he was out to ensure that they assist more people and facilitate equal opportunity.
