I fled Meru after s3x video leak, mob wanted to lynch me – Mama Mboga

A Meru woman has recounted the terrifying ordeal she faced after a private video of hers went viral online, forcing her to flee her home in fear for her life.
Speaking emotionally, she said the video led to public outrage in her community, where an angry mob of nearly 200 people attempted to lynch her.
“Nitarudi Meru kufanya nini na watu walirudi kama mia mbili kuja kutaka kuniua, waliaribu vitu zangu mpaka kwa ploti walinifungia nyumba,” she said tearfully.
Mama Mboga explained that she was rescued by a well-wisher, a young woman named Wamuna Tabitha, who intervened and took her out of Meru just before the mob could inflict harm.
“Huyu msichana anaitwa Wamuna Tabitha akaniokolea akanitoa uko Meru karibu niuliwe na mobs kwa sababu sikuwa najua nini ilikuwa inafanya,” she recounted, expressing gratitude for the timely intervention.
She further described the betrayal and manipulation that led to the leak of the video, revealing that the man involved had promised to help her financially and even claimed he would help her find a husband, only to exploit her by demanding the explicit material.

“Nikajua alikuwa ananidanganya kuhusu kunisaidia kupata bwana. Nilijaribu kufanya kila nilichoweza kuhakikisha familia yangu inasaidiwa, lakini sikutaka hii kutokea,” she said.
Away from Meru, the woman is still grappling with the emotional toll of the incident.
She said the trauma has been compounded by the fact that she is a grandmother, responsible for her family, and now faces public scrutiny and fear of further harassment.
Mama Mboga expressed deep regret over the situation, explaining that her actions were driven by urgent financial needs to support her four children and three from her younger sibling.
“Nawaomba mnisamee juu niko na watoto wakubwa na nawaomba mfute hio video na sitarudia tena. Mimi ni nyanya, mtoto wangu ako na mtoto. Naomba serikali mnisamee,” she said, appealing to the public for understanding.
Mama Mboga is pleading with authorities and the public to remove the video from circulation and to understand that she will not repeat the incident.
“Sina laku fanya, sitarudia tena. Mimi ni nyanya, mtoto wangu ako na mtoto. Naomba serikali mnisamee,” she urged.
