Blink and you might have missed it… there is literally a day to commemorate everything in this world, living or non-living but have you heard about World Lizard Day?

World Lizard Day is an annual event celebrated by reptile enthusiasts, conservationists, and curious individuals alike.

It’s commemorated on August 14, 2024, and for those who get creeped out by these beautiful creatures, sit at the back please, enthusiasts take the front seats.

This special day typically honours and raises awareness about lizards, showcasing their species and unique characteristics.

It’s often marked with educational programs, zoo events, and social media campaigns aimed at highlighting the importance of lizard conservation and understanding.

You may wonder what activities to engage in to show appreciation for these God-given creatures, we have an endless list of fun activities to celebrate this day you won’t even miss Christmas.

1. Educational talks

One way to raise awareness about how amazing it is to co-exist with lizards is to host or attend talks about different lizard species, their habitats, behaviour, and conservation efforts.

This will help sensitize the community especially those who may look down on these species.

2. Visit a reptile park or zoo
