Harambee Stars players set to receive Ksh1M each after beating Morocco
By Valerian Khakayi, August 10, 2025Harambee Stars players are yet again set to receive a cool Ksh1 million each for their commanding victory against Morocco.
The match ended with Harambee Stars’ 1-0 victory over Morocco in the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) opener, played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
The reward is part of a hefty package promised by President William Ruto when he visited the camp ahead of the continental showpiece.
Apart from Ruto’s promise, multitalented musician Kevin Kioko, alias Bahati, also promised the team a reward of Ksh one million if they defeat Morocco.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Bahati revealed that he would carry the hefty sum in cash to the stadium and, together with Diana, present it directly to the players immediately after their victory.
“We are doing something very special, my wife and I. We will bring this 1 million to the stadium if they beat Morocco because we must qualify by any means necessary. If they beat them, we will enter the stadium with this money. This money is not for management or anyone else; it will go directly to the players. So if you beat Morocco, do not embarrass us. Those Moroccans act all fancy; it will be courtesy of us. Harambee Stars, you are ours,” Bahati said.

Cash reward
Since the beginning of CHAN, the national team have been smiling all the way to the bank thanks to their stellar performance.
On August 7, 2025, the team bagged Ksh 500,000 after a 1-1 draw with Angola, and on August 4, each player received Ksh 1 million when Ruto fulfilled his promise following their win against DRC on Sunday, August 3.
Confirming the disbursement of the funds on Monday, August 4, 2025, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed stated that the funds have been availed to the players, including members of the technical bench.
“President William Ruto has fulfilled his commitment to pay KSh1 million each to all 27 Harambee Stars players and 15 members of the technical bench, a total of KSh42 million, following the national team’s 1-0 win over the DRC on Sunday,” Mohamed said.
“The Sports ministry disbursed the funds, and a similar reward awaits the team after Thursday’s game against Angola.”
