The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed and his Embakasi counterpart, Babu Owino, over suspected hate speech they spewed at a campaign rally in Kibra on Sunday, October 13.
The two legislators, alongside ex-Embakasi South lawmaker, Ishard Sumra, were directed to appear before the NCIC on Thursday, October 17.
And now, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, says should NCIC find the three culpable of the alleged hate utterances, he will not hesitate to charge them in court.
“Upon completion of investigations, the Commission shall forward to this office the resultant investigation files for perusal and directions,” said Haji in a press statement dated October 16.
The suspects are accused of inciting their supporters against McDonald Mariga, the Jubilee Party candidate in the November 7 Kibra by-election.
In a video clip which has gone viral on social media, Junet is heard telling Jubilee party supporters to prepare for a “real war”, accusing them of torching Mariga’s vehicle and blaming it on ODM rooters.
“They torched their car and blame it on ODM. Now they should prepare for the real war,” said Junet.
