“The suspect surrendered herself to serious crime detectives at DCI headquarters this afternoon. She is currently being processed to appear in court tomorrow to answer to various charges including obtaining money by false pretences, forgery and money laundering,” Kinoti said.

Detectives had on Friday busted the Nyamohanga-led syndicate for obtaining millions of shillings from unsuspecting job seekers on the pretext that they would be offered jobs.

Two people were arrested on the same day by the sleuths.

Some of the top government parastatals that they claimed to link job seekers to include; the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the National Police service.

In a statement, Kinoti said that one of the victims is a woman who lost ksh800,000 after she was deceived that her three children will be linked up to jobs at the National Health Insurance Funds (NHIF) and the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

She was handed appointment letters but she was informed by the suspects that the process had been affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

The victim then reported the matter to detectives and an investigation was launched.
