The Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has announced that today’s examination papers of the ongoing Kenya Certificate Secondary Education will continue as planned.
In a notice, dated October 31, 2024, Ogamba said despite being a public holiday, the exams will not be interrupted.
In addition, the CS directed all members of the Multi-Agency Examinations Administration Team to report to work and ensure all the scheduled examination activities are well executed.
The directive also applies to all other basic education institutions in session, according to the CS.
“The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public that the declaration of the holiday will not interrupt the ongoing KCSE Examination papers scheduled for Friday, 1st November 2024.
“Consequently, all members of the Multi-Agency Examinations Administration Team are instructed to report to work as scheduled to ensure that all examination activities of the day are well executed in line with Ministry of Education guidelines. This directive shall also apply to all other basic education institutions in session,” the CS directed.
Public holiday
Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday, October 31, declared today a public holiday to allow Kenyans to witness the swearing-in of Kithure Kindiki as the country’s new Deputy President.
This declaration was announced through an official gazette notice signed by Mudavadi moments after he was appointed to assume the role in an acting capacity.
The gazetted notice outlined the holiday designation as part of the official ceremony for Kindiki’s assumption of office.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, in the exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Public Holidays Act and Sections 3(b) and 12(3) of the Assumption of Office of President Act, declares Friday, the 1st of November 2024, to be a public holiday, being the date of the swearing-in of the Deputy President-designate,” the gazette notice read.
The appointment of Kindiki as the Deputy President role comes after a period of legal hurdles. Earlier, the High Court lifted conservatory orders that initially blocked his assumption of the position.
The orders were filed by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who disputed the Senate’s resolution that certified his impeachment.
