Gloria Orwoba commends central police OCS and officers after her dramatic arrest
By Valerian Khakayi, September 2, 2025Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has commended the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and officers at Nairobi’s Central Police Station for how they handled her case following her dramatic arrest at the entrance of Parliament.
Speaking during an interview with Oga Obinna on Monday night, September 1, 2025, Orwoba said that the officers demonstrated professionalism and stood their ground.
She further revealed that the OCS questioned why she was taken to Central Police Station while Parliament has its own police station.
“I want to commend the Central police station OCS and those policemen because they did not take things casually, and the OCS was very particular. He asked the guy Why did you bring her here? mnamtoa parliament penye kuna police station alafu mnamleta haba kwa nini? He knew of the games that were being played,” she said.

The vocal politician added that some sergeants who were being pressured to write a statement against her also declined, a move she described as a sign of integrity within the police service.
“Some of the other sergeants who were being forced to write a statement they also refused,” she added.
“Those are the things that make me happy because it shows, by the way, you cannot be popular, but even if you are not liked, there are some things that are changing because not all policemen will agree to be used.”
Dramatic arrest
The former nominated senator on Wednesday, August 27, 2025,claimed that she was arrested and taken to the Central police station after a dramatic confrontation at Parliament.
Denied entry into the Senate chambers, Orwoba parked her car across the gate, blocking other vehicles from passing. Security officers tried to tow it away, but she resisted. The standoff ended when three female police officers forcibly removed her from the scene, drawing a large crowd of onlookers.

In a Facebook post, Orwoba told her followers that she is waiting to be charged, but the process has stalled.
She explained that the officers at Central informed her they could not move forward because the individual who initiated her arrest had not appeared to record the charges at Parliament Police Station. She described the situation as a political attempt to frustrate her and discredit her fight.
“I have been detained in Central Police Station. I am awaiting my charges, which are apparently being booked at Parliament Police Station. The central police bosses say that they cannot charge me because the individual who triggered the arrest is not here, and they are the ones to charge me.” Orwoba said.
“I want to assure those doubting my intentions and my reasons for fighting. This is not about a salary or a position, trust me. By the time this fight comes to an end, the outright corruption and impunity will be laid bare for EVERYONE to see.”
