A garbage collector who was hired to dispose of a dismembered body of a woman left behind in a house by a killer was on Wednesday charged as an accessory to murder.

Francis Kihara, who had been on the run for a month, was accused of committing the offense on May 30 at Amani Court in Umoja, Nairobi County.

He denied the charges before Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi at the Milimani Law Courts.

Kihara is alleged to have dumped parts of the dismembered body of the unidentified woman left behind by suspected serial killer David Migwi Kariuki.

The suspected serial killer, Kariuki, has since been charged with the murder of the woman.

The garbage collector allegedly committed the offense with Kariuki’s landlady Nancy Wanja and the caretaker of her building, Nicholas Kimanthi.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations [DCI] officers led by Inspector John Kanampiu of Buruburu DCI offices arrested Kihara on Tuesdaya, June 30.

Kihara’s case will be consolidated with those of the other accomplices who were charged earlier.

The three suspects allegedly removed the body, cut and packed it into four bales, and wrapped it with wedding décor materials.

The landlady is said to have wanted the house cleared before leasing it out after having evicted the alleged serial killer for failing to pay rent in April.

Witnesses told the DCI that the body had been dumped at Tumaini Primary School.

The DCI detective traced pieces of similar wedding decor materials outside the serial killer’s house where they arrested the landlady and Kimanthi.

However, another suspect Fredrick Omar who had been arrested alongside the landlady was released without charges and will be among witnesses in the two murder cases against Kariuki.
