Friday blackout to affect parts of 4 counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned power blackout that will affect different parts of four counties on Friday, August 22, 2025.
In a statement shared on Thursday, August 20, 2025, the utility company said that the interruption, which will run for several hours, will affect customers in parts of Nairobi, Narok, Nyeri and Busia.
The outage, which is expected to affect activities that depend on electricity, is due to the planned system maintenance.

Specific areas
In Nairobi, the 7:00 am to 5:00 pm outage will affect residents in parts of Lower Kabete, Lower Kabete Campus, Lower Kabete Primary, Farasi Primary, Peponi School, Farasi Crescent, Lower Kabete Road, New Kitsuru, Kitsuru Springs, Mwimuto Market, Gituamba and adjacent customers.
Similarly, in the advisory, Kenya Power announced that the scheduled blackout will be experienced in parts of Narok County from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The areas set to be affected include Mwea Mosque, Karira Hospital, Ndorome, Nguka, Gatitika, Maruraa, Marurab, Kasarani, Kangiciri and adjacent customers.
Parts of Nyeri County will also be affected by the blackout, with residents and customers in Githakwa Market, Githakwa Secondary School, Ihari Market, Ihari Safaricom Booster, Githakwa Chief’s Camp, Kabanya Clinic and nearly areas from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
According to the latest advisory issued by the utility company, the scheduled blackout in parts of Busia County will be from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the areas in Bumbe, Sigalame, Iguhu Hospital, Shisesia Village, Makhokho, Shirere, Iguyo, Khayega Playing Ground and adjacent customers experiencing the outage.
