The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has once again notified its customers to plan accordingly, due to a planned maintenance that will cause a power blackout in selected parts of South Nyanza and Kiambu.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 31, 2025, KPLC indicated that “Good Evening. The following areas will be on a planned power maintenance tomorrow (31.10.2025) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.”

The company said the temporary power interruption is meant to allow its technical teams to carry out essential network upgrades and equipment repairs.

In the South Nyanza region, the power outage will affect parts of Migori County, especially the areas of Ikerege and Isibania.

Among the specific places to be impacted are Ikerege Centre, Ikerege Hospital, and sections of Isibania town.

Affected areas

Other affected localities include Getongonya, Gokiaraka, Koego Market, Nyametaburo, Kiomakebe Market, Nyabongarange, Kwiriba, and the nearby neighbourhoods.

Residents and businesses in these areas have been urged to make the necessary arrangements to avoid disruption of their daily activities.

KPLC also reminded customers to treat all power lines as live during the outage period and to exercise caution until supply is fully restored.

In Kiambu County, the maintenance work will cover the areas around Fresha Dairies and Palmhouse Dairies.

The blackout will affect Thakwa Village, County Pride Hotel, Githunguri Shops, Githunguri Police Station, Ciiko Primary School, and the surrounding customers.

The utility company assured customers that its teams will work to restore electricity as soon as the maintenance is completed.

It encouraged the public to use alternative sources of power during the interruption and to switch off electrical appliances to prevent damage when the supply returns.

KPLC continues to carry out regular maintenance across the country to improve the reliability and safety of the power network.
