Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and Governor Wycliffe Wangamati on Sunday met with more than 50 founder members of Ford Kenya at a hotel in Bungoma County.

Present at the meeting were MCAs and Ford Kenya officials allied to the Wamunyinyi camp that recently tried to oust Senator Wetangula as the party leader.

The Kanduyi MP said the agenda of the meeting is to take back the party to its members to revamp and restore it to its former glory.

Wamunyinyi, who is one of the founder members of the party in the early 1990s alongside the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, accused Wetangula of poor leadership.

He said that Wetangula was removed as the leader because of poor leadership for using Ford Kenya for the furtherance of personal gain.

Governor Wangamati said that it is now upon Wamunyinyi to revive Ford Kenya.

The Bungoma governor called on grassroots party members to support the new leadership, saying that they will bring everyone on board to make sure that the party will be in the next government.

The two politicians said that they will meet with like-minded leaders such as KANU’s Gideon Moi ahead of the 2022 General Election.

They said the decision to support Moi’s candidacy has not yet been reached but they support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government and development agenda.

Former Bungoma Deputy Speaker Wamusai Simiyu called on Wamunyinyi to broker a truce between the members of the county assembly and Wangamati warning that their tug of war is derailing the county government.

Simiyu’s plea comes amid a petition by several activists petition to impeach Wangamati.
