Five die in grisly accident along Kisii-Nyamira road

Five people on Monday, February 28 lost their lives following a grisly road accident in Nyabioto area along the busy Kisii- Nyamira road.

Nyamira County Commissioner Michael Lesimam said that the accident took place in the wee hours of Monday morning.

“Five people lost their lives in the accident. Those injured were taken to hospital,” Lesimam said.

K24 Digital has established that the accident involved a 14-seater matatu that hit a stationary lorry along the highway.

“The trailer was packed by the roadside when the Nissan matatu hit it from behind killing the five people; all males of above 40 years, instantly,” the report read in part.

Seven other people including two women who were seriously injured were rushed to Kisii Level Six hospital for treatment.
