Duale announces fresh measures aimed at improving service delivery

Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale has announced fresh measures in a bid to restore and improve service delivery in the health sector, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the country’s healthcare.
In a statement shared via his official X handle, the health CS who was speaking during a consultative meeting with the Council of Governors (CoG) Health Committee chaired by Wajir Governor H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi, announced plans to digitize health services and the absorption of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff.
“Held a consultative meeting with the Council of Governors (CoG) Health Committee chaired by H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi, Governor of Wajir County, to address key issues in the health sector. Discussions focused on the rollout of the Social Health Authority (SHA), digitization of health services and absorption of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff,” Duale shared.

He equally revealed that the ministry will fast-track the digitalization of health facilities across all 47 counties to improve delivery.
“We agreed to fast-track the digitalization of health facilities in all 47 counties, led by the Digital Health Agency, to improve service delivery,” his statement added.
The vocal health CS also revealed plans to allocate more resources to emergency, chronic and critical illnesses and training health facility in-charges to optimize registration of the Social Health Authority (SHA) and improve service delivery.

He further directed that counties will conduct a headcount to streamline UHC staff absorption and Community Health Promoter (CHP) payments.
“To streamline UHC staff absorption and Community Health Promoter (CHP) payments, counties will conduct a headcount, while the National Government will transfer funds based on SRC-approved salary scales,” his statement added.
“I reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the health system through transparent partnerships with counties, with a focus on integrity and accountability. I also highlighted the essential role of human resources in the rollout of Taifa Care.”
Others in attendance include; Public Health Principal Secretary (PS) Mary Muthoni, Medical Services PS Harry Kimtai, Director General Patrick Among and CoG Vice Chair Mutahi Kahiga among others.
